Technology Management
As operators face the challenges of developing higher pressure, higher temperature deeper water assets, management of the new technology and associated high reliability requirements becomes a key project driver. Premature failure of equipment can lead to costly interventions and significant lost production revenue. Failure to qualify new technology can also lead to schedule execution delays and budget overruns.
It is essential that technology gaps are identified early in the project and managed appropriately to mitigate the above risks.
Technology Qualification (TQ) is not only crucial in closing enabling technology gaps but can also be utilised for development of enhancing technology which can offer significant CAPEX/ OPEX savings and improved system operability.
TQ is a key assurance activity which is becoming more prominent due to the increasingly complex, demanding and ultimately costly nature of developing remaining oil and gas reserves
iEnergy Solutions has the proven capability and experience associated with implementing and executing TQ management associated with major Subsea Production and Pipeline systems.
A cornerstone of TQ activity involves development of a systematic and structured TQ management system which is aligned with DNV-RP A203 Qualification Procedures for New Technology and DNV-OSS-401 Technology Qualification Management, which are rapidly being accepted as Industry best practice in this area.
iEnergy Solutions have in house project management and technical resources that can readily provide the following services:
- Project management- schedule, budget and TQ program expediting
- Technology Gap Identification
- Failure Mode and Effects Criticality analysis (FMECA) workshops
- Development and Execution of Technology Qualification Plans
- Desk Top Studies
- Prototype Manufacturing and Testing package management.
Specific TQ management experience associated with:
- Large Bore HP/ HT deepwater subsea ball valves and operators,
- Large bore clamp connectors,
- Subsea pig launchers and associated ancillaries
- Large Bore HP/ HT deepwater pipeline repair systems
- Dual diameter pigs & novel de-waxing pigs
- Subsea Controls equipment associated with long distance control of subsea systems
- Valves: gate, ball, check, choke, meg dosage valve qualification
- HP/ HT XT equipment (connectors, chokes, gate. meters and check valves)
- Novel hydrate and corrosion management equipment and methods
- Novel metering and flow control equipment
- Long life field & high system availability requirements- reliability growth programs.
Clients can realise tax concessions for TQ activity (timewriting, contract expenditure, prototypes etc) under the Australian governments "R&D" tax concession program, providing certain criteria are met. Not all TQ activity should be considered ‘blue sky’ as this can also apply to adapting existing technology.
TQ can equally be applied to greenfield and brownfield developments that adopt new techniques and technologies to enhance production profiles of existing reservoirs.
TQ activity does not necessarily fall within Client’s core competencies, nor for that matter within equipment vendors core competencies, hence utilisation of a dedicated resource which has a proven track record in delivering world class TQ assurance activities for major capital projects makes sound business sense.
iEnergy Solutions are keen to discuss our TQ management capabilities to assist with your future development needs.
